Brett Goods was introduced by Max Carey. Brett is CEO and DON of Mayo Hospital which is now being run by Healthe Care.

Brett is a Rotarian from Toronto Sunrise Club (2 ½ years).

Mayo Hospital is 90 years old with a long-standing community presence.

Brett grew up in regional Victoria – from the wheat/sheep farming area around Horsham. His background is in clinical nursing, cardiothoracic particularly, and management. Brett travelled to South Pacific countries, Nepal and China doing voluntary work with surgeons performing open-heart surgery and he was in charge of peri-operative services at the Mater Hospital, North Sydney before going to Toronto Private Hospital and then Taree.

Healthe Care purchased Mayo Hospital at the end of 2011 and commenced management of Mayo in July 2012. Healthe Care is a relatively new organisation but has a strong presence in Newcastle and Central Coast areas as well as the Gold Coast and Melbourne. Healthe Care focuses on brownfield programs – taking existing facilities and redeveloping them to further their potential. Now 14 hospitals with approx. 1250 beds across the group including 47 operating theatres, 800 consulting doctors with medical, surgical, rehabilitation and psychiatric services. Brett said that strengthening doctor relationships, attracting doctors and providing them with the equipment that they need is important.

Mayo has recently increased its capacity by 22 new beds and 1 new operating theatre.
