Murray Difford introduced our Club speaker for the evening, Mario Tomlin who spoke to us on the automative industry.

Mario advised that there are five areas of service in this industry:
 Finance
 Sales / after sales service
 Cars
 Service
 Parts
Mario noted that 2018 has been a very difficult time for this industry. Sales for cars have dropped dramatically.
Figures show that no-one buys big cares anymore, particularly passenger vehicles. Even light commercial vehicle sales were down. SUVs and fuel cabs are what everyone wants to purchase now days.
Most car dealer groups have been finding it difficult over the past six months. Overheads in particular can be a killer.
He has found people are more savvy these days when purchasing cars and this is a good thing.
They do their research and know more about what is out there, sometimes even before the dealer group is aware.
