Guest Speaker - PDG Ken Hall - The Rotary Foundation

Ken was introduced by PDG Ian Dyball. Ken is a member of the Rotary Club of Tamworth and was District Governor 2008-2009 when the Rotary theme for the year was “Make Dreams Real”.

Ken spoke about the Rotary Foundation and the changes which will occur to funding grants.

When applying for grants, sustainability of the project is important.
Grant types:
District grants – fund smaller, short term actiivities. Go to the District website and download pdfs for how to apply for a district grant. All district grant applications have to be submitted by 1st October – between $500-$4000 grant for district.
Global grants are large international activities – must be sustainable, measureable outcomes in one or more of six areas of focus.
Packaged grants – min. $30,000 are funded jointly by Rotary and a strategic international partner. Can only apply for these grants online.
Scholarships – support graduate studies in an area of focus.
The areas of focus are:
Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution
Disease Prevention and Treatment
Water and Sanitation
Maternal and Child Health
Basic Education and Literacy
Economic and Community Development
