Mark talked about travelling through on the way to look at another Zoo that was for sale. But then stopped on the way back at Billabong, and the rest is history.
It has been difficult with ongoing costs for keeping and caring for animals and with the Zoo being closed there has been no income. Re-opening is beginning but with strict guidelines and social distancing. Even proposed Government support is limited, and costs are rising. Different animals have varying needs and foods etc.
It was an interesting and engaging presentation. Members remarked that many Rotary guests and exchange students have visited the Zoo accompanied by members and all have had a wonderful experience of Australian wildlife.
