Meeting of 15 July 2013

President Joy McCaffrey welcomed members and guests and especially RoseAngela Paias, her husband Fabio and two daughters.

Secretary David Fisher displayed his Rotary theme tie and invited those men wanting to buy the ties to visit our website.

There is a new roster in this bulletin for visiting those members who are sick or unable to attend any more due to infirmity.

There is a combined clubs’ meeting on 12th August 2013 to raise funds for the Australian Children’s Music Foundation – DG Rob Anderson will be present and the night is open to partners and friends. The District Directory is available on our website for downloading if you want a copy.

Thank-you letters have been received from the RAWCS treasurer for donation and from Steve Bromhead for fellowship at our changeover dinner.

Caitlin McLeod is our sponsor student for the Science and Engineering Challenge. She addressed the meeting and said how she is trying to get to the National Science Forum. She said how she loves science but is still unsure what she wants to study at university. A talented young lady, she plays sport and also plays the piano and sings. We wish Caitlin all the best for the challenge.

Guest Speaker: RoseAngela Paisas
RoseAngela, then 17 years old, was our first exchange student. She was hosted by The Rotary Club of Taree in 1980, and this time is accompanied by her husband and two daughters. She spoke of the love and care given to her by her host families while here, and how the experience was life-changing – everything prepared her for the next challenges in life. She has been working in Brazil for the past 20 years as an English teacher.
RoseAngela was thanked by Col Rose.
