President David welcomed all members and guests to the meeting.
He also welcomed our guest speaker for the night George Hoad – who spoke to us on “Inspirational Gardens”.
President David reminded us that our 80th Anniversary Dinner is being held on 23 September. Please RSVP to Ross Tingle prior to 15 September 2017. Dress: Coat and tie for men and dressy for women.
You can register via ClubRunner or contact Ross. Funds to be paid either direct to Phil Streatfeild or direct credit.
He also reminded us that there would be no meeting on the 25 September due to our 80th Anniversary Dinner being held on the 23 September 2017.
President David will be away from 26th September to the 18th October in New Guinea on the RAWCS Kokoda Hospital with Ian Woollard, Dianne and Sandi. In his absence Past President Murray Difford will be leading the meetings and Les Hogarth will be acting treasurer for the meetings.
He noted that at our next meeting Warren Blanch would be speaking to us on Dragon Boat Racing. Max Carey will also be showing a DVD from his archives about Kokoda.
David also advised that our Community Services Director, Neil Hanington is currently in the Mayo after having a knee replacement operation.
Ross Tingle also asked members to register for the 80th Anniversary Dinner as soon as possible. He also advised that there are a few minor changes to the itinerary for our Japanese visitors.
Wayne Robards reminded everyone of the Dinner Dance on Friday 15th September 2017, 6.30 for 7PM in the Centrepoint Arcade, all welcome. Please advise of attendance as soon as possible.
Wayne also reminded everyone of the Combined Services and Community Group Dinner to be held on 28 September 2017 at Club Taree commencing: 6 for 6.30pm. Cost: $45 per person. RSVP by 21 September 2017 to your Secretary or Club representative.
Mark Drury reminded members that we will be helping out with parking for the Old Bar Festival to be held on Saturday 30 September 2017. This will include an induction night on Friday 29 September 2017 at Club Old Bar. It is compulsory that all volunteers attend this induction night. Please advise Mark if you are able to assist with parking on this day.
Mark also advised that we will be helping at the gates for the Taree Show on the weekend of 6th, 7th and 8th October 2017. Could you please advise Mark as soon as possible if you are able to assist, even for a couple of hours, as volunteers are needed for this weekend.
Phil Streatfeild advised that members attending the 80th Anniversary Dinner on 23 September 2017 will need to pay as soon as possible. Please see him for details on how to pay.
Karenne Norling, visiting Rotarian, advised of a Rotary Fundraiser Movie Premier night, for the movie Victoria and Abdul, to be held on Thursday 14 September 2017 at Fays Twin Cinema. This is $20 per person and includes drinks and nibbles. Proceeds to the Manning Riverbank Stage Project.
