President David welcomed members and guests to our meeting. As well as a special welcome to our guest speaker Barry Lambert whose topic tonight will be “Cannabis / Hemp – Why has this opportunity been hijacked?”. We look forward to hearing from Barry regarding this subject.
He also welcomed Peter and Fiona Tinney and Tanja Curcic, Chris Olwoch and Debbie Callinan to our meeting as well as member partners.
He advised that there will be three inductees into our Club tonight, which makes this a very special night for us indeed.
David also thanked those members who assisted with the Bunnings BBQ on Sunday. An amount of $700 was raised for our Club.
He reminded members that the Football Canteen will be re-opening again in March so the assistance of members in running the canteen on allocated football days would be appreciated. Please keep this project in mind.
He advised that Rocket Tools had kindly donated a prize for our Raffle in conjunction with the Golf Day. Please see Susie who will have the tickets available tonight.
Project Reports were then provided. Kevin Sharp advised on activities for the Australia Day long weekend.
There will be a free breakfast at the MEC for which we will need three Rotarians to assist. Then three more are required for the morning tea. Please see following details.
With respect to our Golf Day we will also need volunteers to assist with this day. Particularly to monitor the Hole in One on the first tee so that this can be officially recorded. The prize being golf buggy. Please see following Roster. Further volunteers are required.
Murray Difford advised that with regard to our Battery Muster Project that the second lot of pallets has now been delivered. We have been attending local markets etc to garnish interest from the public and to advertise what we are doing. This is going well.
Murray also advised that under the Youth Portfolio our Youth Ambassador, Marylyn Sendah, will be putting forward a proposal to start an Interact Club as her project. This will be in conjunction with the YMCA. Murray gave an overview of the proposed project. This proposal has been put to President David. At this time the proposed project is in it’s early stages. Murray will keep members informed as to its progress. Ian Dyball brought us up to date with respect to the new RI President for 2018 / 2019. This is Barry Rassin from the Rotary Club of East Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas. His Rotary Theme for 2018 / 2019 will be “Be an Inspiration”.
