Meeting at the Harrington Waters Golf Club.
Our Guest Speaker was Chris Elford who spoke about the activities of Harrington Lions. When the Club was chartered in 1976 Taree Rotary presented a Rostrum, which is housed today and used at the Harrington Bowling Club.
The central work of the Lions locally is focussed on Pilot Hill – the flagstaff and Cemetery – this project has developed and grown to include fencing, an Information Bay, the restoration of Headstones, and more recently new park benches are being made from aluminium to replace the timber benches.
Other major projects are the concrete pathway to Crowdy Head, using local contractors, and at the school new vegetable garden and beds featuring the Rainbow Serpent.
Lions members who attended were: Eric Mason (President), Bill Burgess (Treasurer), Chris Elford (Secretary) Diane and Neil Gibson, Cliff and Wendy Hoare, Artie Hudson (President Elect), Mike and Caren Kelly, Phil and Diane West. Chris was thanked by Peter Tinney and presented with Certificate of Appreciation and a Rotary Guest Speakers Pen. Sergeant Bruce Moy fined everyone present for all manner of misdemeanours, particularly Dr Col who owes us the details regarding Rita Heyworth.
