"D9660 Youth Exchange are looking for those who are interested in joining the committee to promote Youth Exchange and in so doing make life-long friends around the world. It is an opportunity to train and guide students, providing them with the experience of a cultural exchange and to develop as leaders who promote peace and justice around the world. Could you please complete the attached expression of interest and return as soon as possible. It is not certain when the program will recommence, however the committee will need to be formed now to begin preparation and training for outbound students in 2023."

This Expression of Interest is to be received by District 9660 Chair YEP Committee, Bev Bartlett via email by 20.2.22.  Email:

Registrations are now open for Rotary’s 113th annual international convention in Houston where more than 20,000 service-minded people from around the world will gather on June 4-8, 2022. International Conference are absolutely amazing and you should go if you can.

  "We Cannot Survive in Nests"

Ali, Aisha and Ali-Najib live in a displacement camp in Ma’rib, north-central Yemen. They, and many other families we asked, told us, “We can’t survive in nests.”

You see, people in Yemen use twigs, palm fronds and shreds of clothes to create makeshift shelters that they call nests. Ali collected scraps of metal, bits of materials and oil drums to build a shelter for his family. Other families have even less - they live under trees, covering themselves with palm branches to create a makeshift roof over their heads.

But it is not only living in improvised shelters that puts their lives at risk. On top of the coronavirus pandemic, Yemen is in the grip of the worst cholera epidemic of modern times. To add to this threat, the combination of a densely populated campsite and lack of sanitation creates a breeding ground for mosquitos that can transmit malaria or dengue fever.

Donate today to change lives

We have asked Ali, Aisha, Ali-Naji and many others in Ma’rib what they need to survive. They speak for thousands of families around the world who had to leave everything behind to flee from conflict. With your support, we can send them the aid items they need to survive.

Whatever you can give today – your gift could save lives. In Yemen, or somewhere else in the world where families are struggling to survive. Thank you for giving people shelter.

Many thanks for your support

The effects of the Volcano and Tsunami on January 15th will be far-reaching, impacting the Tonga Community for months, possibly years to come.
Communication remains problematic with international and inter-island call still no possible due to the damage to the undersea cable.
Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) will be working with Rotary New Zealand World Community Service (RNZWCS) and Rotary Club of Nuku’alofa (Tonga) in providing aid and assistance to the affected communities’ and restoring their livelihoods.
RAWCS has registered a Rotary Australia Relief Fund project to seek financial assistance from Rotary Clubs, the public and private sector.
Donations to the RAWCS Relief Fund are tax deductible.

Tamworth Calala Rotary Club would like to challenge all district clubs to donate $100 per member to a Tonga Relief Fund which would be managed through RAWCS. The club would wish to be assured that at least 10 clubs would be willing to participate. We would like the project to be publicised throughout the district. Your support and that of the management committee would be appreciated.
Yours in Rotary, Ray Dart President Rotary Club of Tamworth Calala
Fr Peter Tinney and Fiona Tinney are being assigned to a new parish at East Lake Macquarie by Easter this year.  It is with sadness that we will lose not just good friends but great Rotarians but pretty sure our loss is someone else's gain as they continue their community service wherever they go! All the best Peter and Fiona!
"It has been a privilege to serve... thank you all for your friendship and support"
- Fr Peter Tinney
