Conflict and violence displace millions of people each year.  Half of those killed in conflict are children, and 90 percent are civilians.
Rotarians refuse to accept conflict as a way of life. Rotary projects provide training that fosters understanding and provides communities with the skills to resolve conflicts.
Through our service projects, peace fellowships, and scholarships, our members are taking action to address the underlying causes of conflict, including poverty, inequality, ethnic tension, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources.
Through academic training, study, and practice the Rotary Peace Centres program develops leaders who become catalysts for peace and conflict prevention and resolution in their communities and around the globe.  Graduates of the program are reintegrating refugees in Sudan, creating jobs for disadvantaged women in India, and supporting reconstruction.

If we could travel to the USA this would be an excellent conference

Peace and Conflict Resolution Conference

Rotary Club Of Greenville 7750 South Carolina

2022 THEME:
Finding Peace in a World Full of Conflict

“Finding Peace in a World Full of Conflict and Bias” will focus on unconscious bias and the conflicts that result from that bias.  Understanding how we are impacted by unconscious bias is necessary for creating more inclusive communities and finding peace in our lives.Unconscious biases are feelings, assumptions, and perceptions that have been perpetuated in the media or beliefs passed along by parents, peers, and other community members. We then filter others through our personal experience and background. Unconscious bias can affect our thoughts, whom we believe, how we make decisions, and how we treat others. This Conference will provide a safe environment for participants to focus on their biases and learn how to challenge them. The outcomes of the Conference are:
*Educate participants on the kinds and causes of bias, and the conflicts created by biases.
*Help participants identify their own biases through self-reflection and discussion.
*Equip participants with skills to challenge their biases, deal with biases of others, and resolve conflict resulting from biases.
*Provide resources to continue to challenge biases after the conference.
A focus will be on breaking down communication barriers caused by bias so that we can learn how to communicate more productively. https://peaceandconflictresolution.com/resources/

Develop your expertise and career to go further close to home.

If you want to use tertiary education to start a career, upskill to grow further or completely change industries, you’re in the right place. We are a student-focused not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to keeping valuable skillsets close to home on the MidCoast, NSW.

Putting your skills into practice: connect with local placement, experience & employment opportunities

AT TUC, we understand that most tertiary students are studying to go further in their professional lives. And that a tangible future in the workforce makes undertaking study more realistic.

We’re building relationships with local industry bodies, private businesses and community organisations to bring together a whole range of practical opportunities for our students.

At the dinner tonight President Susie took the opportunity to wish Michael Fellows a very special farewell. He and Frances Rosamond will be away for 7 months in Norway.
THANK YOU AND ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE!
Fr Peter Tinney and Fiona Tinney are being assigned to a new parish at East Lake Macquarie by Easter this year.  It is with sadness that we will lose not just good friends but great Rotarians but pretty sure our loss is someone else's gain as they continue their community service wherever they go! All the best Peter and Fiona!

"It has been a privilege to serve... thank you all for your friendship and support"

BON VOYAGE!
Our Norwegian-American-Australian mathematicians will be going back to Norway on Valentines Day, the 14th of Feb and won't be back until August later this year.  We wish you both a safe trip and dont forget your way back down under!
Eclub Sydney Rotary member  Lucy Hobgood Brown who lives in Wingham.

Thank you for all of your support of the Congolese.

We are looking for new accommodation for the 3 Congolese remaining in the Manning. If you and fellow Manning Uniting Church/Rotary members can keep your eyes open or help by checking Facebook Marketplace and real estate listings, that would be great. It’s hard for me to keep up with all their needs! None of them have driver’s licenses. They seek shared houses with access to a kitchen and bathrooms, no more than $150/week.

John Kingo – mid-30s, separated from his wife and 3 kids who live in Newcastle, lives in Wingham but aims to move to Taree as he’s lonely and thinks Wingham is too quiet. He is also looking for any type of work and hopes to find a job where he can walk to work. The ETC employment office in Taree is assisting him with the job search but all leads are welcome. He speaks basic English and French.

Esperance (“Hope” in French) and Bien-Fait (“Well done” in French) are cousins, both 21, hope to live in same house within walking distance of Wingham Beef. The Wingham house they currently live in has been sold and they must move out quite soon (probably by Feb 11). They have family in Newcastle. Both speak basic English.

Thank you for any suggestions you may have. - Lucy
